College Tuition And Fee Are Too Expensive

Students and families can compare colleges' tuitions, the pace at which they are rising and the net cost of attending each college on a new Web site the Department of Education made public on Thursday, fulfilling a legislative mandate.

The new lists, required by the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008, show the institutions with the highest and lowest tuitions, the highest and lowest percentage tuition increases over the last two years, and the highest and lowest net price — that is, the actual price full-time students pay, including room and board, after financial aid like grants and scholarships are taken into account.

In each of several categories — public and private, for-profit and nonprofit, four-year and two-year — the most expensive institutions and those whose costs are rising most rapidly will be required to report to the Education Department why their costs are so high and what they plan to do about it. College Tuition is expensive. In fact,  price of college tuition rises faster than most things.  While the media complains loudly and attacks business about the price of gas, food and healthcare, you rarely hear complaints or  attacks about the rising price of attending college. College prices have risen much faster than food, gas or healthcare. In fact, college is becoming so expensive so fast that some question if it has the same value it used to possess.  People have every right to be concerned. Because of inflation, real wages are steadily decreasing while student loan debt steadily climbs.  So the return on investment for college is becoming less and less. Combine that with high unemployment and it gets even worse.  So, kids are graduating college with what Gerald Celente has so adequately called “degrees in worthlessness”.

The government has in recent times taken on a greater role in student financing.  Actually, now all student loans will be issued by the government.  The government will give almost anyone a student loan.  Why?

They love getting young Americans hooked on government debt.

Politicians like control and handing out loans and controlling the student loan industry is right up their alley.

Government likes to be close to the education system. Just look at the relationship between government and education since the department of education was instituted in the 70s
