Sport is societal events that genuinely spiritize societies all over the globe. Majority of populace watch, take part, or converse about it on a daily basis. In the United States it is considered to be an important part of the culture. Generally, sports are associated with academics in the United States, with most of the institutions having organized sports. College sports play a major role in the United States sport culture. College games mainly refer to sports which are organized and funded by the institutions itself in America.

In America the college games are approved in a formal manner by one of the collegiate game leading bodies which then select only those students who are extra ordinary in their performance relating to sports. Other recreational and frivolous sports clubs are offered to a larger division of the student body. . Competitive games between student clubs from diverse colleges, which are not arranged by the educational institute and consequently not playing on behalf of the institutions or their faculties, may also, be termed as "intercollegiate" games or college sports.

The intercollegiate sports program is not only a visible part of the university; it is sometimes display as a symbol of institutional competence. In realism, the only disparity between trained and college athletics is one of level and both are administered for the advantage of those who organize them.

Presently, various college sports are quite acknowledged on local and national scales, in many cases giving tough challenge to the professional championships for broadcast coverage and print exposure. (Eide, 2001). It has been a concern that whether college student should be paid for sports or not? My viewpoint is yes, they should be paid (Curtis, 2003).

Scope of intercollegiate athletics in United States Athletic departments are observable council of higher education and should symbolize the same morals that are facilitated throughout an educational institution. Athletic scandals pessimistically impact institutional reputations because a divergence in educational and athletic curricular aims becomes clear. Athletic curriculum should be educational in nature and should facilitate alike values to academic curricula within a different perspective. In this way, the aims of athletic curricula are compatible with academic aims. The combination of athletics and academics should, therefore, create an environment encouraging to student-athlete growth. (James, 2003)
