Introduction

Cognitive means thinking and behaviour means your deeds so, Cognitive behavioural therapy, also known as behaviour therapy, refers to the treatment in which a client will comprehend the depressed conditions, bad experiences and emotional thoughts that manipulate his answer. This psychotherapy will help the patient to handle his problems by modifying his way of thinking and the way he acts.

Behaviour therapy cannot take your troubles away, but can help you to control them in a further encouraging way. Studies have revealed that this treatment essentially alter brain actions in patients with cerebral diseases, and helps the brain to improve its functions. Clients become optimistic and thinks positively about their daily events and boost up their amount of enjoyment in ordinary life.

Theoretical principle related to CBT

This treatment varies from client to client, but there are certain principles which are common to trigger the treatment.

Principle No. 1

Cognitive behaviour therapy is based on an ever-evolving formulation of client's problems and an individual conceptualization of each client in cognitive terms. At the start of this therapy, the doctor will categorize his existing emotions which are responsible for his grief and his response. That is what the first principle is illustrating that the therapy will initiate according to the client's problems, which changes day by day because of his daily conduct.

Principle No. 2

Cognitive behaviour therapy requires a sound therapeutic alliance. Many clients having depression disorders has some difficulty in trusting doctors, so for trust building, one of the best method is to listen intimately and cautiously to the client with complete observation. It will be great, if the doctor points out his each and every success either small or larger, this will also facilitate him to share his views and opinions which further change his thoughts and behaviour.

Principle No. 3

Cognitive behaviour therapy emphasizes collaboration and active participation. The doctor will encourage the patient to contribute in the sessions. At the initial the client will not take part so actively but gradually, a marked change will happen in his performance. Dynamic support will lead the patient to think about his life more positively.

Principle No. 4

Cognitive behaviour therapy is goal oriented and problem focused. Every depressed client specifies their problems and locates objectives with the doctor during treatment. If a client tries to keep busy himself in other actions to eliminate the problem, definitely it will help the client to overcome over that disease.

Principle No. 5

Cognitive behaviour therapy initially emphasizes the present. This treatment strictly focused on individual and existing problem or situation which is responsible for distressing the client. There could be only two circumstances in which the patient has allowed to discuss his memories. One, strong preference of the patient to think about and Two, when the roots of the current problem are getting struck into the memories.
