Code of Ethics



Abstract

According to the American Counseling Association, counselors and advisors contribute to the development of the profession are making continuous efforts to carry out efficiently practice professional counseling, teaching, research and service delivery query. The code of ethics demonstrate this contribution by adopting a philosophy that evidences their ways in the exercise of the profession and the reasons why so acting (AACC, 2008). Counselors collect data demonstrating their professional effectiveness in the provision of services and use them to evaluate themselves. Also recognize the need to participate in continuing education activities to achieve their professional development, and ensure service excellence. This paper also provides discussion on the code of ethics of American Counseling Association in terms of confidentiality, informed consent and discrimination.

American Counseling Association (ACA) Code of Ethics

According to its introduction, the American Counseling Association (ACA) Code of Ethics serve five reasons: 1) to clarify the ethical responsibilities members', 2) support the mission of ACA, 3) definition of principles for the conduct and best practices of ACA members, 4) which serves to guide the promotion of the ethical values ??of the profession of counseling, and 5) provide a basis for dealing with complaints of ethics.

When counselors are faced with ethical dilemmas that are difficult to resolve, they are expected to engage in a pro- rigorous process for making decisions. And there can be reasonable differences of opinion between the various directors with respect to how the values, the principles and ethical standards should be applied when there is a conflict between them. Although there is no specific model that is most effective to make ethical decisions, directors are expected to be familiarize to a reliable model and its application to take making it susceptible to public scrutiny (ACA Code of Ethics, 2005).

American Association of Christian Counselors

Christian Counseling continues to emerge as a "deputy", recognized and accepted, the field of mental health. It is, and will remain, the rules defined by educational, ethical, and accredited under the guidance and direction of The American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC). The AACC has more than 50,000 members in EE.UU.AA, and other countries, and is the force pushing more counseling Christians grow in this decade of the twentieth century and one. As Clinton says, "Professional counselors are uniquely equipped and in the position to help the church to fulfill its mission of evangelizing and discipline." "Do you recognize pastors and church leaders need to cooperate and collaborate with Christian counselors?" The AACC has been working to establish clear links and respectable with local churches and their leaders. We noticed that Christian counselors want help strengthen the health and vitality of the local church. They want the church to be holy, powerful, and beaming with compassion in ministering to wounded souls (American Association for Christian Counselors, 2005).
