CNO Standards

CNO regulates nursing professions in the public interest by setting the requirements for becoming a nurse, to establish standards of ethical and safe care practices, and enforce standards of practice and behavior. In practice as a nurse in Ontario, you must be a member of the QS. CNO registers people who meet all requirements, including the successful completion of national examinations elderly. Only members of the QS can provide care in Ontario, or the use of the names of nurses, nurses (RN), registered practical nurse (RPN) and Nurse Practitioner (NP) (Kozier, 2003).
