Introduction

This paper intends to discuss the importance of contract management capabilities. The rapid advancements within the technology have made the businesses to work through complete automated systems in every aspect. The significance of automated contract management system is immense for the larger organizations which have to deal with various contracts simultaneously. The purpose of this paper is to advise 'clients' acting as a 'consultant' related to different and important aspects of automated contract management systems. Since this technology is relatively a new one; the clients need to be advised about how this system work and what benefits can this system provide to the organization.

Discussion

The consultation to client revolves around assisting the organization in assessing their contract management capabilities; thus providing them with possible and alternate CLM and ECM options (Cohen & William, 2008). Acting as a consultant; I would be advising my client on what an automated contract management system can do for his or her organization. This consultation can be considered as the first step in order to locate a business that would like my assistance in receiving a free evaluation as a part of a class project for a course in contract management. The following services will be included within the consultation. An assessment of the need company's for a contract management system, consisting of:

A diagnosis of the company's current contract procedures and processes.

The company employs the manual contract procedures and process. Contractual information is not available centrally within IT Services, smaller IT procurement issues are generally dealt with by the Service Delivery Manager by informal discussion with the Operations Manager (Saxena, 2008). Most of the documents regarding purchasing including contracts are held locally within the teams.

An evaluation of different automated systems currently available.
