CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
Background
Cloud computing is very much pleasing concept for organizations to adapt. But as with any innovative concept or promising technology, organizations face certain challenges with chances being provided by the cloud. Few challenges comprises: lack of control, privacy and security (Gailius &Moncrieff, 2001, pp-56). The physical situation of hardware in relation to who might get access of data is not known always, that can result in privacy and security issues. Because the cloud run is controlled by the service provider of cloud, users have restricted monitoring of factors like maintenance or usage of resource, because these are the accountabilities of the cloud service provider. Even though cloud computing decreases capital costs by making use of model that is pay-per-use, there might be expenditures in order to guarantee that adequate disaster recovery and backup processes are carrying out properly. Regardless of these drawbacks several organizations still attempt for the adoption of cloud because the advantages are more that can easily compensate these cloud computing drawbacks. Resources of cloud computing might be tailored in order to meet the needs in real-time environment , in the course of peak hours, the cloud might provide extra resources on the basis of demand, this might be adjusted instantly when lesser capacity is required. Cloud computing provide better response times and instant updates of software as well, several other advantages of cloud can include benefits of resource because employees can get information access anywhere and might focus on tasks of higher priority rather than the normal tasks of maintenance (Linder et al, 2011, pp-98).
Because the supply chain of cloud is required in order to encourage the cloud computing adoption. Services and products are passed by means of supply chain along with funds and information. It is significant to be aware of who and what is involved in the supply chain of cloud in order to comprehend the innovative chain of technology and how it is utilized to find the needs of transforming to clouds (Gailius &Moncrieff, 2001, pp-70).
The supply chains mainly provide two significant functions, a function that is physical and that includes the generation of the product and moving components to the accurate place and function of market intervention that guarantees that the product is according to the needs of the market. The supply chain should be categorized according to its supplied end-product and components. In a business, for a successful utilization of cloud, business requires to migrate all or some of its services of IT to the cloud and after that manage an innovative setting (Linder et al, 2011).
