Introduction

The areas of practice, which I chose is medicine plus strokegeneral. The course, which i have been doing pertains to clinical patient assessment, It is the branch of nursing, which pertains to the healthcare of patients. The rapid technological development in the area of health and universal expansion of education in the last 20 years has led huge health and demographic changes. One of the best indicators of these changes is focused on reducing progressive fertility and the parallel rise life expectancy. Quality health care for adults includes a focus on health promotion and health maintenance. Providers who exhibit this focus will provide clear information and answer questions about the health.

In addition, senior nurses provide information on prevention of illnesses and injuries as well as information to foster a healthy life, healthy development, and prevention of behaviours that place the health of a person at risk. All nurses, to a greater or lesser extent, need to carry out assessment and care functions. Nurses may be ranked and structured according to the activities that they perform pertaining to analysis and treatment. The management and performance of activities that take place during the treatment of nurses is called nursing care process, which is part of clinical assessment of patients.

Discussion

The nursing assessment from the perspective of thrombolysis is the cornerstone of all work of a nurse, as it is the ideal method to provide information that allows the development of nursing diagnosis. Clinical assessment of patients requires more than filling instruments or nursing assessment sheets. The completion of the assessment requires if a nurse has the knowledge and skills to perform the assessment functions.

Rationale and Benefits of the Course

It is essential for a nurse to do a course in physical assessment as it helps in practitioners to develop skills and gain theoretical knowledge about physical assessment. Furthermore, courses in physical assessment also help in the application of the knowledge and experience in clinical practices. In addition, there are other benefits, which provide the rationale behind a course in physical assessment (Fairbairn 2001, Pp. 44-75). These benefits include the development of advanced knowledge for autonomous practitioners, communication skills, assessment skills involving safety measures, and preparation to make effective, independent and evidence-based healthcare decisions.

On the other hand, the course will be beneficial in nursing stroke and medical patients as I will be able to learn and increase my knowledge about the diagnoses, assessment, and treatment of stroke and medical patients. The course is also helpful for nurse managing emergency situations, primary care, cardiac and respiratory clinics etc (Castledine 2001, Pp. 693-891).

The course in physical assessment promotes self-direction in acquiring knowledge through the delivery style. Furthermore, it also involves learning through simulation and practical, which help in rehearsing the skills.
