Need Assessment

A performance problem that I am aware of in my workplace unfortunately exists because of a large turnover that included the release of the department administrator. Over the course of approximately 9 to 10 months, all of the administrators and their assistants either quit or were letting go. The result was that a skeleton crew with no leader became responsible for the financial stability of their employer.

Needless to say, with little or no training or support, many mistakes were made, and the reputation and credibility of those brave souls remaining to do the work required by a team 3 times the size with several years of experience was destroyed. Currently, those employees remain with the employer and although beaten up a bit they are not broken. The desired performance will require significant training, however I believe one of the greatest obstacles to face is that I must try to help them to forget all of the past incorrect information and the emotional abuse that they have endured by their peers simply by attempting to keep their department afloat. I look forward to your input (Ozkan & Koseler, 2009).

Front End Analysis

Background one of the performance problems that I'm aware of at my job is trying to cram too much information into web based training courses. Passing the training programs is an annual requirement of employment. Performance Analysis a large number of employees are failing the assessment on their 1st and 2nd attempt. The training is 100% web based. Needs Assessment the training does not take into consideration different learning styles.

Right now the training is 100 % reading. The training also needs to encourage retention since the employees will be tested on the material and it is knowledge the employee should have for their role. Job Analysis Update the design of the course to make it more effective. Goals updating the program to make it more interactive take into consideration different learning styles look for opportunities to encourage retention by reinforcing key points Regards.

Identifying the domain of learning

The Domain of Learning is Intellectual Skills Learning Concepts. I did waiver on this between Verbal information and Intellectual Skills, however as referenced in (Walter Dick, 2009), “the learner may be asked to identify the object from others; the learner may have to master the use of the equipment.” That would come close for Intellectual skills; however Verbal Information is identified easily as referenced in (Walter Dick, 2009), “Often the learner must state, list, describe. This is where my confusion developed because the learner must be able to identify/describe the term and match it to the associated action.

Goal: Instructional Designers will be able to identify from a list of specified basic terms and the action that is performed with that term.
