Civilization

Introduction

Civilization is usually a contentious term and is used in different context. In fact, civilization generally reflects the material side that is always associated with human cultures, which are structured in hierarchy as well as mainly settled in urban areas (Kagan et al., 2009). There is no doubt about the fact that Civilization can be seen as synonym for culture level. It is also a stage of social development, whereby information and religious culture develops.

Apart from this, Civilization is also the set of features that characterize the evolutionary state of a given society, technical, intellectual, political and moral, without making value judgments (Seignobos, 2012). Whereby coming down to the criteria of a great civilization, it is noticed that all the civilization has experienced a fall and decline in their time where some decline occur slowly over time, and some are drastic and rapid. Historical events do not stop and it is a continuous uninterrupted as long as the human face of the earth and this is just like running water in the river continued. The times represent the historic civilization of production of the human mind and similar events are modeled on a tight one (Seignobos, 2012)

Discussion

Researchers believe that the age of Earth is nearly six billion where first humanized culture came into existence in Africa approximately 3 to 5 million years ago (Kagan et al., 2009). With the passage of time or one to two million years ago, human settlements started spreading different parts of the world including Africa, Asia and Europe. Researchers have found out that birth of civilization took place with the creation of human settlements and evolution of cultures (Kagan et al., 2009). They argue that human beings, in earlier times, used to live in a very simple way where hunting and fishing were their source of food to survive.
