Difference between Black Power and the Non-violent Strategy
Black Power and the nonviolent strategy had little in common. Black Power advocates often used revolutionary rhetoric and violence to rouse the masses (Joseph 2006). The retaliation was promoted as necessary to ensure targets are hostile to a new level of respect for blacks. Black studies programs and teaching of African languages are a crucial part of strengthening the identity of black pride.
