Introduction

Tommaso Campanella was born in Stilo in the year 1856. As a natural philosopher, Dominican Monk, Utopian writer and political theorist, Campanella gained a great deal of attention, which led to controversies. His famous works comprise of “Philosophy Proven by the Senses” written in the year 1591, the poetry by the title of “Selections” composed in the year 1622, “A Defense for Galileo” written in the same year i.e. 1622 and the most popular work of Campanello “The City of the Sun” which was written 1623.
