Conversation
King Henry:
The word Anglican means "of England", but the Anglican Church exists around the world. The Anglican Church was formed in 1534. The Anglican Church was formed by slightly changing the Catholic system of religion, meaning that the Anglican Religion is a sect of the Catholic Religion with many similarities of beliefs and prayers. The act that set the Anglican Religion as an official religion is called the Act of Supremacy. The Anglican Church was set up and given its powers by the English Crown in Parliament, which still has ultimate control of the Anglican Church's beliefs and discipline. Mr. Moor; do you know the reason for starting the Anglican church? Ok, I tell you, the reason for starting the Anglican Church is because King wanted an annulment of his marriage to Catherine of Argon. The Pope denied his request because of the political pressure that he was under. King decided that because he was king that he should not have to follow the laws that citizens or the Pope were to follow.
Sir Thomas Moor:
I see, and I think the formation of the Anglican Church also called the Church of England or the Episcopal Church was formed in 1534 after he was denied his annulment from the Pope. Henry made sure that he was regarded as the highest figure of the religion other the God himself. King also did not like the fact that the Roman Catholic services were held in Latin so upon the creation of Anglican Church he had all prayer books and songbooks translated to English. The King was such an influential person that most of the English citizens became Anglicans. "The principals of Anglicanism were drafted in a document called the 39 articles. The first sisterhood in the Anglican Faith was founded in London in 1845. Today there are more then seventy million worshiping Anglicans. In Canada alone there are eight hundred thousand Anglicans that are worshiping in thirty dioceses." The Anglican Religion is a very prominent and well-recognized faith throughout the world. Mr. Henry can you tell me about the division of Anglican Church?
King Henry:
Well, The Anglican Church is divided into regional groups called "dioceses". All of the dioceses have their own bishop who has the responsibility of the spiritual and administration of the churches within the area. The Anglican Church consists of the ministers, deacons, priests and bishops. The Anglican Church recognizes all the baptized people as ministers of the faith. In the Anglican Church both men and woman are granted equal opportunities to be ordained into the priesthood. The Anglican Religion is laid out in the same way the Catholic Religion is but instead of a Pope the King or Queen is the highest religious figure within the community.
Sir Thomas Moor:
Yes, I want to add some information that every three years three hundred members from the diocese across the country meet at a meeting called the General Synod "synod ...
