Introduction

The parables of Jesus can generally be categorized into two: the first one is the "Kingdom parables and the second one is Teaching parables. The purpose of the first one Kingdom parables is to demonstrate various features of the kingdom of God. Jesus normally began those parables with a statement of comparison ("the kingdom of heaven is like") or an investigation ("to what shall I compare the kingdom of God?").
