CHINESE CULTURE

Introduction

Chinese culture is a collective term for all culture goods from Greater China, including Taiwan and Hong Kong regions. The Chinese culture has been shaped over 5000 years, the cultural developments in neighboring countries such as Japan, Korea, Thailand, Singapore and many other Asian countries significantly. From today's perspective, the Chinese culture and China is a generic term for all the cultures of 56 ethnic groups within the Chinese territory, including the Han, Hui, Mongolian, Man, and Zang. So China is a multiethnic state (Bond, 2004).

China and Its Origin

Chinese culture is one of the oldest in the world has the longest history and continuity. Generally it is believed that Chinese culture has three origins: the Ziviliation the yellow river, the Yangtze River and Ziviliation on the northern steppe culture. The Chinese culture and China has emerged from these three sources and one of the most developed civilizations in world history.

Description

The Chinese culture is based on the people, respect the dignity and values of people in China. Thousands of years ago the ancient Chinese have established the political idea: The people are the foundation of the culture; the culture is at peace when the base is fixed. Another guiding principle was: Between Heaven and Earth, is the noblest of the people (Chang, 2002). Thus the Chinese culture has always been much emphasis placed on the welfare of the people. An old proverb said of Chinese culture: a noble gentleman should not be content with what he already has, and will make an effort to develop steadily. That the Chinese culture for 5,000 years is maintained, it certainly owes this maxim of ancient China. In spite of repeated wars and foreign domination, the Chinese culture has always overcome the obstacles and eventually emerged strengthened.

In Chinese culture, much attention is paid to a harmonious society. In society, people want to help each other and jointly tackle problems. In ancient China, the idea was founded: peace is a noble quality (Chow, 2002). It explores the harmony between heaven and man, between men, between the body and heart. It has the ideal of a society in which everyone is related to the neighbor, and everyone is equal. In a harmonious society, mind and matter are unified. The unity of the people is one of the highest priorities of the Chinese culture and China's policy very much impressed.

The Chinese culture has brought harmonious neighborhoods. Peace is an essential feature of Chinese culture. In the relationship with the outside world, Chinese culture does not seek hegemony. A great power does not suppress smaller power. A rich country humbles not a poor country. A harmony of all countries has been sought. At the same time, the Chinese culture takes full advantage of foreign nations in order to strengthen them (Dishion, 1992).
