Abstract

This paper discusses the topic of How to Invoke Interest in Children toward Reading and Writing. The researcher has studied the extensive literature in detail. The researcher discussed different ways to invoke interest in children towards reading. The researcher said that children should be persuaded to read on routine basis. Children should be encouraged to multi task and take interest in reading. Reading habit is very important and thus children should be taught this habit over the time. Children fear books and they should be encouraged to read and discuss books.

Introduction

Reading and writing are the most essential skills that a child learns from a very young age. However, it becomes difficult to invoke that interest in some children who find reading and writing to be tedious work. It is very important for us to understand that we must educate and guide children in the right way. It is the job of teachers and parents to play an important role in childrens' life. Without us children wouldn't get the proper education. So it is our job to guide them correctly. Why do parents want their child to be interested in reading and writing is just because of that they want their child to be literate (Schweinhart 2003).

There are many ways in which we can make children interested in reading and writing. The following are the steps that can be taken to make children interested in reading and writing.

Routine

One of the most important factor is to start making your child read and write at a very young age, as you do this it will be like a routine for the child to read and write and then the child will automatically get interested in reading and as well as writing. As soon as children come from school they usually watch television, lots of parents thinks that making them read and write after they come from school would make them interested in books and writing, but it's the opposite children like to watch television it is like a rest and refreshment for them. By making them reading and writing as soon as they come from school which eventually reduce their interest because they are tired and need some time to relax (Schweinhart 2001).

Explanation

Usually when children arrive from school they want to spend time in television so let them watch television. So the first step is to make sure that they have their own time and spend it by enjoying it. After making sure they had their time the next step is to tell them the advantages of learning own to read and write.
