Introduction

Childhood obesity is a subject much discussed across the globe and rightly so, because the number of obese children all over the world has increased steadily over the past decade. There has been a sharp inclination in the rate of prevalence of obesity among children, especially in more developed countries. The poor food intake and sedentary lifestyles, and also other medical reasons which have to be diagnosed, but often ignored by people are the increase explained primarily as the reason for obesity.

The importance of proper diet and psychological treatment in this regard is very important. It is now considered as a topic of an epidemic. According to a current estimation, in many countries, one in ten children is obese at the age of 10 years. In this study initially, we will discuss the when a child can be termed as fat, and why do some children, of the same age, same sex, same activity levels, same eating habits, and the same family, put on weight, whereas their siblings do not? The study ultimately will also discuss the factors that cause obesity among child.

Symptoms

It is important to know the feeding habits and behavior of the child and family. Knowing what children eat, the ranges of one food to another, the exercises they perform, as well as their leisure habits are the basic steps in avoiding obesity in children. In this way, parents can find out what causes child obesity. Changing habits through behavioral therapy is an essential part in the treatment of overweight children.

When the child is under 5 years of age, the parents must lead the treatment. From 5 to 9 years, children have more autonomy in treatment, but require the supervision and responsibility of parents. Only from 9 or 10 years of children will have more responsibility and be able to respond almost total freedom to treatment. Physical activities must be applied parallel to the diet. Parents should begin with gentle movements to which the child grows gradually adapting. Ordering gruelling exercise at initial stages may result negative as the child may be frightened, weary, and can ultimately reject it. Exercise should be mild at first, but developed continuously and daily. These types of exercises can be fun loving and interesting for children.

Causes

The only way that this can be changed is with new, productive serving of food choices in restaurants and school cafeterias that children are routinely revealed to. School cafeterias need to have new register options that are healthy as well as rather appealing to the kids. Kids are not going to desire to have a certain thing like the can of spinach for noon assisting of food but, the nourishment desires to be appealing in some way (Pescud, 2010).
