Child Rearing in Indian, Chinese & American Cultures
Abstract
The core idea of this paper is to compare and analyze differences and similarities between child rearing practices in Chinese, American and Indian cultures. Types and practices of child rearing in these cultures will be observed and analyzed. Beliefs and preferences among due to several different reasons will be highlighted to help society in picking up a better way of parenting their child.

Introduction
Child rearing is one of the most important areas of social science. It is not a piece of cake to sort out the type and practices of child rearing you pick to bring up your child. Your parenting style will affect you children in several ways e.g. Self confidence, Achievements, Friendly nature and other significant properties of a person. Since there are numerous different practices of child rearing around the globe so here we are to discuss the similarities and differences of child rearing in three different cultures. Since all of these cultures follow different religions i.e. in India majority follows Hinduism, china majority of citizens follows Taoism and Americans are Christians. Therefore this study will serve as a comparison of both cultural and religious values of three different societies. It is not a piece of cake to raise a child by providing best child rearing practice. In most cultures parents repeat same mistakes in child rearing practice by following their old customs without investigating pros and cons of their parenting method.
Types of child rearing
In India
In recent Indian culture child rearing practice just took a slight difference as they practiced in past. Indian has a distinctive parenting style as compared to other Asian countries. Structure of family roles is similar among most of their citizens. It is the duty of father to act as a head of family and fulfill majority financial requirements of the whole family whereas mothers are considered to be caretaker of the whole family. Usually major part of parenting a child is one of the major duties of mother. During last years child rearing styles have changed to some extent due to increasing education level. However majority of Indian families practice same old costumed child rearing methods (Tuli, 2012).
In China
When it comes to Chinese parents education of a child is on the top of the list and this is the only reason behind increasing success rates of Chinese students. They emphasize more on Discipline, value for elders and Education. Recent studies show that Asian-Americans outperformed students of other cultural groups in mathematics and science (Else-Quest et al 2013). Chinese children are producing much better results in American society as compared to Native American children. They are also represented National merit Scholars of U.S (Zhao and Qiu 2009).
