Introduction

The growth and child development are two closely related phenomena, however important differences involve precise. Growth means the increase in weight and dimensions of the whole organism and the parts that comprise it, is expressed in kilograms and measured in centimeters. Development involves the maturity of the cells and refers to the acquisition of skills and abilities in various stages of life (Cole & Cole, 1996).

All children aged between the early months of life and three years should see their regular review, with the pediatrician can measure and weigh, allowing you to in each case to guide parents in their management. The steady increase in weight and height is the most reliable indicator that the child is in good overall health, and developing well. Parents should remember that what matters is the increase in weight and height of each individual child and their relative weight compared to other children (Keenan & Evans, 2009).

Discussion

The child is not a miniature adult and is not only different physically but also mentally from adults. This is why child is not only smaller but also different. The growth and development must be adapted to the physiological age of the child and thus effectively meet the needs and capacities of the body in the open developing (Kagan, 2007). Maturation of the child and determining the learning development of various biological qualities as well as motor coordination is important. Following paragraphs highlight the growth and development of a child in five different phases (Keenan & Evans, 2009).

To achieve full physical, mental and emotional need to have people next to you talk, play with it and to give demonstrations of affection, as all children need to maintain an intimate, sensitive and or affection with adults who care for them. From newborn, the child is able to give and receive affection, to interact with other people, because you feel loved and wanted are vital for inner development, and that on this basis will build their sense of security, confidence himself and his ability to relate well with others and the world at large (Kagan, 2007).

The child needs to hear words of encouragement and affection, receive caresses and smiles, to be heard and encourage him to respond with sounds and movements from the first months of life. The care you receive from their parents to achieve normal physical and mental development is essential, remembering that the child needs to be free to explore and play, play is an essential activity of the growth process as it increases mental abilities, social and physical, among which include the ability to walk and talk (Cole & Cole, 1996).
