Introduction

The paper aims to critically analyze the article Sexual abuse of children - Unique in its effects on development by Jennie G. Noll. The author deeply explains the issue of child abuse and neglect in today`s society. Child abuse occurs everywhere regardless of the socioeconomic status of the country, such as the government or the educational level of citizens. The causes of neglect are many. Parents and educators may have neglectful behavior towards their children. Negligence is not a specific behavior of certain people, but there are some problems that make their appearance. Thus, negligent parents usually have a low self esteem and sometimes also been neglected or abused in childhood. It's harder to whom received no affection in childhood learn to give affection and care (Noll, 2008).

In view of the author, the most common period of the first attack of sexual violence within the family is a preschool and early school age. Mostly, it is a contact form of sexual abuse and the start of sexual abuse are often already in the period of around five years of age (Noll, 2008). With the suspicion of sexual abuse, however, we have previously encountered children of annual or biennial, which is a great tragedy. Although; abuse and neglect are distinct forms of maltreatment and both cause severe harm to the child i.e. physical and emotional in nature. If there are strong indications that a child is a victim of neglect our duty as citizens is to create conditions for the child to receive protection. The victim of sexual abuse often feels very bad psychologically. One may find it difficult to sleep, plagued by nightmares.
