Introduction

Child abuse involves abusing and harming children through physical, sexual and emotional mistreatment. Child abuse can take place anywhere. It can occur at home, organizations, school, colleges and various communities. Various jurisdictions have devised various definition of child abuse, which are prevailing in various nations of the world. According to the journal of child abuse and neglect, child abuse is an act of parent or a caretaker, which harms children physically and psychologically, which can lead to death.

The issue of child abuse and neglect is a serious concern in the United States. Every year, more than 3 million children are reported to be victim of child abuse. Child abuse and neglect has become a serious problem and has become a major health issue. The problem of child abuse not only affects the quality of human life but it also has adverse affects on the society at large.

Statics regarding child abuse in America

In America, many children are suffering from child abuse and neglect. According to a recent study, around 3.3 million children are reported as victims of child abuse. Despite of being the most industrialized nation of the world, America loses 5 children everyday due to child abuse and neglect. United States has the worst records of child abuse and neglect. In America, a report of child abuse is made every day (Gray, 1986).

According to a recent statistics, more than five children die every day due to child abuse and neglect. Around 80% of children that die due to child abuse are below the age of 14.according to recent survey, child abuse occurs at every socioeconomic level, within all regions and at all levels of education. It is found that more than 30% of abused children will later abuse their own children, to continue the cycle of abuse. Children at the age of 21 develop psychological order, which are suffering from child abuse.

Juvenile justice system

Today in the United States, more than $600 billion cases are reported of children, which have been affected by child abuse and neglect. The course of action as stipulated by the government in dealing with Juveniles has directed the visibility of juvenile's centers. Although, the legal system in united states, have devised a legal framework and guidelines to prevent child abuse and neglect, many juvenile centre have been established to reduce this national issue. There are many factors that the Juvenile system has undertaken for the eradication of child abuse and neglect (Roach, 2011).

These factors include family factors, peer pressure and environmental affects. In the 21st century, the juvenile system is facing with challenges and various issues regarding child abuse and neglect. These issues should be resolved to make a society a peaceful place to live.
