Child Abuse

Introduction

The term child abuse can be described as any damaging or unpleasant contact on the body of a child, and any contact to those results in humiliation, embarrassment, or threat to the child. It is said to be voluntary act that is bound to result in the physical as well as the emotional damage of children. The term “child abuse” constitutes a variety of distinct behavior which ranges from the physical assault conducted by parents or family to neglecting or ignoring a child's need or want. The concept of Child abuse is incorrect, as God didn't create humanity for abuse. There is child abuse in the world because of mentally disturbed individuals who want to exhibit power. They induce physical abuse on young ones and these kids believe that it is normal to experience such abuse since their parents did it to them. These kids tend to be conditioned in such manner that they think it is normal to abuse others as well.

Discussion

There are four main types of abuse: physical, sexual, emotional abuse and neglect. Neglect is the most popular kind of abuse (Botash, 2010). There are two types of neglect: physical and emotional. With physical neglect, a parent fails to supply physical things, like nourishment, medical care and shelter. Emotional neglect is when a parent fails to solace the child or not pay attention to them. This includes being affectionate to them or allowing them to use alcohol or drugs. Physical abuse is intentional acts of aggression that can hurt or even murder children. Signs of physical abuse may encompass unexplained bruises, set alight marks or broken bones. Sexual abuse is when adults use children for sexual satisfaction or force them into sexual activities. It may start with kissing and/or fondling and progress to more indulging acts, like oral sex or intercourse. Emotional abuse is when an adult destroys a child's self-esteem. You can manage this by repeated verbal abuse in the forms of shouts, threats, humiliating or degrading criticism. Other types of emotional abuse are confinement, like shutting children in a dark closet or basement, and what is called social isolation. Social isolation is like when an adult denies the child to have friends (Maniglio, 2009).

The child abuse can be further categorized into four major parts; physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect. Such activities may include physical attack (rape or oral sex) or non-penetrative actions such as rubbing, touching, etc (Furniss, 2010). Child abuse may also contain non-contact actions like involving or forcing a child in watching or producing sexual pictures, motivating a child to adopt sexually unsuitable behavior, etc. The dilemma of child sexual abuse is something serious for our community, state, and the entire nation. It is estimated that before reaching the 18 years of age, one out four girls and one out of six ...
