Peace and Joy Care Center for Women and Children was founded by Wilma M. Wilson in 1994 in the City of Carson, CA. Wilma is also the executive director of the center. Wilma established this center with the purpose of helping battered women and children in providing them with new opportunities and hopes to freshly start their lives. Wilma boasts a strong record of community service and participation in many welfare programs. In addition, because of because of her unwavering commitment of helping others and empathetic nature, Peace and Joy Care Center has become a sanctuary for those in need. The organization provides supportive services, education and training to help their clients rebuild their lives and counseling. The organization also provides emergency rescue services as well, and has a twenty-four hours active hotline dedicated for this purpose (Peaceandjoycarecenter.com, 2013).

Vision and Mission

Peace and Joy Care Center was established to assist children and women who suffer persistent domestic violence. Coupled with, assisting women and children with or without any mental disabilities, HIV/AIDS and substance abuse. The vision of the organization is to evolve their facilities to become a shelter for both emergency and transitional purposes. Thus, becoming a organization through which lives of the battered women and children change for the good.

Similarly, the mission of the organization is to eliminate domestic violence through acting as a transitional housing and caring facility to its clients. Along with, providing social services and counseling to the women and children victims of domestic violence in order to help them integrate back into the mainstream society (Peaceandjoycarecenter.com, 2013).

Organization Staff and Governance

All of the staff members have been inducted after comprehensive tests and interviews, based on their personality, behavior and their experience of working in a care organization. Hence, all of the organization's patient's are taken care of by trained professionals who are well equipped with the knowledge and procedures of helping their clients.
