Desdemona is described as a young, white and beautiful Venetian and is a daughter of Brabantio. Her father was a respected and well known person in Venice. She belongs to the upper class of Venetian society. She was in love with Othello and eloped with him to Cyprus. Some experts believe that it is the final embodiment of a traditional woman ruled by her heart and loyal to her husband, even as the killer. Contradictory interpretation is that the character is a woman far ahead of her time.
