Types of Tours

A travel for leisure, business or re-creational purposes is considered as best possible definition for defining 'Tourism'. Tourism has grown to a wide extent and it has also become one of the most popular leisure activities that is practiced by people living in almost all the countries of the world. There are different components of tourism that includes tourism resources, product market, attractions, industry and destination (Weatherby, 2011). There are five different types of tours according to this presentation that includes:

Special interest tourism

Escorted tourism

Foreign independent tourism

Domestic independent tourism

Group inclusive tours tourism

The first type of tourism i.e. special interest involves individuals with particular interests such as cooking, bird-watching, or painting. The tourists under this category are individuals with particular needs for visiting a place. A tour to a national park for bird-watching falls under this category (Chen, 2011).

Escorted tourism allows travelers to escort in the form of the group to different destinations that involve hotels, sightseeing, flights, and transportation. This type of tour is also known as package tours. Foreign journey is individually contracted by all those individuals, who have resources such as time, money, visa and energy.

Domestic independent tourism or (DIT) is part of the USA that is custom-made and travel agents exclusively planned it for a client (Papatheodorou, 2012).

Group inclusive tours or (GIT) are those tourist groups of people that have common affiliations (McCabe et al., 2010). The tourist groups are part of similar clubs or organizations that includes American Automobile Association, or not. It does not require any tour guide or escort.
