Introduction

Organizations embody a group of people whose duties are governed by some set of policies and regulation, which could be called a program of the organization. In other way we can say that the set of program is regarding its hierarchy, it's about job description and its regarding its procedures. At some point, a set of people starts up the organization, they may wrote a constitution, lays down the work flow of the organization, they have created hierarchy, and then segregated the duties into various job tasks. Yet after several years of the existence of the company, the log of its establishment is faded away, the discussions and debates which has designed the alternative, the creators of that organization are not seen by the people who inherit these established organizations.

The external environment which exists outside the organization, that keeps on changing. Every generation of people brings about a different set of abilities, needs and interests. An organization which was designed or established during the baby boomer might not be able to work for the post generation x bunch. The culture of these 2 generations is not similar, because newer generations react against the older gen and in part due to change in technology that has affected our culture in various ways. The need is then for organizations to change. This change here doesn't mean changes in ethics or the foundation values of an organization. But it means that how those values could be put into the context of this present world. It is not easy to implement change because some of the people resist change drastically, especially if they are required to leave their comfort zone. Because they feel that it is easier to do things which they have been doing since last 20 years. Because they are afraid of doing new things, reason being that they are not sure that if they will be able to perform those tasks or not. So majority of the organizations have important amount of inertia (The Times 100, 2012).

Discussion

Claim by Bolman and Deal

The claim that has been made by Bolman and Deal is made because they believe that the change which has taken place in the organizations since last few decades is equal to the change which has taken in previous century. What he means by this that the rate of change is so rapid that whatever happened in 100 years has been done in just three to four decades. This is due to technological advancement and globalization. And this claim is what I personally believe is true and agreeable.
