The Importance of Change in Schools

Introduction

Schools are an organizational set up and just like all other organizations, require monitoring on a constant basis for identifying areas of improvement. Nonetheless, implementation of educational reforms is done not as it planned and well implementation of the reforms is a rare sight, especially in United States which results in huge wastage of human resources, finances, and lost potential. Change in school setting can be described as adoption of an innovation which results in improvement on the part of students, staff, teachers or organizational operations. The ultimate goal of change in schools is to bring about improvement in outcomes by altering the ongoing practices (Addleson, 2003).

However, change process is inherently complex it's employees (teachers, staff etc.) that resist most to the organizational change, in fact sometimes create hurdles in the way of change by not accepting it, which ultimately results in more complexity when it comes to implementation of the change or innovation. Therefore, Schools need to have differing strategies in order to implement change or innovation which results in successful implementation and realization of fruits that a proposed change or innovation bear. Change in educational facilities, especially schools is highly important as these entities imparts education in the members of our society in their early age and if they become more effective in imparting quality education, we as a society will evolve further and will keep on leading the world just like we have led the world into the wonders of 21st century. In this research paper, we have attempted to describe how important it is for educational institutions such as schools to change and innovate in order to bring about improvement in the quality of education which will reflect in our society's evolved sense of decency and modernization (Bennett, 2001).
