The censorship has a long tradition throughout the world. With the invention of the printing press opened up the possibility of information and opinions cheaper and faster with a larger audience. Those in power saw this as a threat to their rule and therefore have exercised over the first printed books from censorship. Throughout the history, censorship took different forms, media censorship, political censorship, and printing censorship etc. and what not. However, in the modern world, political censorship used by the governments in manipulating the facts and thus keeping the general public in ignorance.
Political censorship exists when a government tries to hide, distort or misrepresent its citizens receive, by exclusion or suppression of press policy, thus preventing the public is informed through news agencies. In the absence of opposition and objective information, people will have less opportunity to disagree with the government or political party in charge. Some of their ways are through bribery, ruin careers, imprisonment, and even murder. In recent years, even censorship intended to embrace new technologies, censoring or limiting in any way which circulates through the social networks and Google (LSE, 2010).
Discussion
Censorship Owned by State Departments/Organizations
In the societies, where the government is in total control of the state departments, for example, ownership of the means of production, central planning and authoritarian rule exercised by one party are inextricably linked. That the political power of the one party regime is extremely pervasive strengthened by centralizing logic imposed on an economy in which market forces have become extinct or greatly reduced. Such a system concentrated in the hands of a single authority political, economic and cultural power of a supreme overwhelming, which is expressed in absolute control of the material and human resources. In terms of censorship, the complaint reaches in these societies at its highest historical levels. In fact, the total control over every form of political and economic communication is an essential component of the one-party regime. From this point of view, a society of the Soviet type is no different from a dictatorship exercised by a single party in a market society. What makes the censorship practiced in these companies - and especially in the Soviet Union - a new phenomenon in the history of the control of the form of expression is merging the political arena with that statement (which in fact become indistinguishable), combined with the technological capacity from the centre to control all means of mass communication (Nakaya, 2005, pp. 115-23). When political power includes all other forms of power, then the control over communication policy changes in total control of all forms of social expression.
