Introduction

Computer Dynamics is a software development company, having 300 computer networks. The company has organized its setup in three adjacent five-story building, where around 100 computers are there in each building. The LAN service of the company doesn't seem suitable, the network of company is continuously growing and it's not able to manage the complete load. The two of the company's buildings have Ethernet LAN service while the third building network is build using Token Ring Technique. Company wants to adapt a new network strategy in order to solve its networking issues.

This paper will help in analyzing the best option; the company should avail in order to resolve its networking issues.

LAN generally represents how a relationship to the Internet is made. LANs are used to hook up computer systems that are geographically close together, whether in the room or in the building. This allows people to discuss information and models, play game and even deliver music to a music system or video clips to a television.

Types of LAN

The Basic LAN

The basic type of LAN is linked by Ethernet cables to a wireless router or hub (modern routers usually incorporate hubs). A wireless router allows all computers linked with it to access a high-speed hub linked with the wireless router. Each pc has an IP (Internet Protocol) deal with, but a pc on the other side of the Internet will only see the router's IP deal with. This, with the help of a router's built-in firewall, creates a more secure environment for using the Internet. Here, firewalls are used to filter out unwanted accessibility to the network (Holloway, 2004).

Wired LAN

A wired LAN connection could be of two types. The first type of wired connection can transfer information at up to 100 megabits per second, and the second one sends at 1000 megabits or 1 gigabit per second. The second one is also known as Gigabit Ethernet. Most contemporary motherboards incorporate this into their build, rather than demanding the person to acquire Ethernet cards.
