Case Study of Akron Children's Hospital

Introduction

The study intends to identify the dilemma which Akron Children's Hospital was facing through highlighting its approach how the hospital dealt with that issues by analysis of their case study. Akron Children's Hospital was established in 1890 in the extremely fierce competitive environment in the Northeast Ohio. It did a lot of efforts in becoming the best hospital for children and now it is considered as the region's largest specialized health care provider for children with 253 beds and more than 30 practice areas for medicine and surgery. Therefore, it fiercely struggled to distinguish itself from the other hospitals on the basis of excellence (Schindler, 2008).

This paper aims to reflect that when organizations use business research to seek out the solution when they face with specific predicaments. This approach is used as because in some scenarios the problems are easily recognized while in other cases the particular hypothesis cannot be identified which therefore requires the process of business research to drill out the root cause in order to address the dilemma. This is what Akron Children's Hospital seized as it was also located in the highly competitive area that was making it difficult to create the differentiation through its medical facilities.
