Executive Summary

The case driving towards a disruption is the case based on the business practices of the Harvard Business School. The case defines the successes and the losses that HBS had to face due to the business practices it is following. The case focuses on the innovations that were done by the HBS in a very short period of time and also how the school completed its 100 years. The case states that the online programs offered by the universities and the other advancement programs of delivering the education of general management is posing a dangerous threat to the MBA programs of HBS. Apart from this there are some other problems that HBS is facing, one significant problem is that the companies have stopped considering the MBA students for the recruitment and jobs and the firms have started to train them in their own way just to the extent of the knowledge that is required for the work needed tot be done at the job. This was again the threat for the MBA program because the applicants were not going for the institutional program for getting the skills and knowledge. On the other hand, the courses that were offered by the other virtual universities were low cost and were almost of the same quality that was offered by the HBS. So due to these reasons, there was an uncertain situation regarding the fact that whether the changes and innovation will lead to the success or the failure of the HBS. The HBS is still tied to its old legacies, and that is giving the chance to the other universities to introduce new and modified methods of teaching and delivering the knowledge. There are several aims and objectives of the analysis that will be done of the above mentioned case. The major aims are to find this solution to the problems of the HBS and also the alternative solutions ton the problems so that it may gain the older position in the industry and the market. The other objectives are to increase the understanding of the things that what managers should done and what they should get rid of. To determine the things and practices that needs tot be avoided by the managers is also an objective of the analysis. Moreover, the study will determine the strengths and weaknesses plus the opportunities and the environmental threats which the HBS is facing. Other than this, analysis of the case will also develop a set of issues that the HBS is facing or might face in future, evaluating strategic alternatives for those problems and events, and creating workable plans of action for the solution of those problems. The study also aims to enhance the sense of business judgment of the managers, and understanding of the leaders of HBS regarding the anticipation of the business and its external threats and environment.
