Change alone will only get you so far, unless you take the time to engage people across the entire organization. By sharing vision and creating a since of leadership, employees willbe more likely to engage in the process and work together in a collaboration. The new CEO has even established boundaries to see that communication flourishes through limited group sizes to 20, which we believe to allow people to be more conducive to participation.  

Innovative and creative individual tend to maintain their motivation to the extent that their desire to excel is given encouragement and a climate to operate. Industrial relations can be used to provide for individual and group needs and general improved working conditions that will enable employees to implement and operationalize their desire. Interactions between workers and with management generate their own excitement which that motivate innovative people. Many organizations have failed to survive globalization challenges due to their inability to manage innate capability of their human resources to innovate (Henry, 2001, 23-24).

As with the consumer-based approaches, the “expert” based approaches are both structured and unstructured, involving both experts as individuals and as members of a group. These approaches are to a large extent, but not exclusively, marketing research oriented. As with the consumer based approaches, it is suggested that the firm uses at least one of the unstructured approaches of brainstorming, synaptic and independent inventors at least one of the structured approaches and, in addition, the “suggestion box” to get broader involvement of all employees. Among the most useful approaches to generation of new ideas are morphological analyses. These approaches question things as they are and ask why they cannot be combined, used in new ways, modified, magnified, minified, rearranged, reversed, etc.

In searching for new ideas for creative and innovative business solutions, it is important to focus on both short and long-term opportunities. The latter are the more difficult to assess and often require as a starting point the identification of the expected scenario 5, 10 or 20 years ahead and focusing the new idea generation process on those approaches capable of identifying ideas under the conditions of the specific scenarios.

Innovation is the lifeblood of every business today. It does not matter what type of business you are in you need to live, breathe and think innovation. In a world of change, innovation is the only way to survive. Innovation has become a big business of its own. Organizations are springing up that claim to offer some new slant on enhancing creativity. Some new technique or technology that will help you is that little bit more creative. But with all this creativity being sold and innovation being bought, there is one big question that begs to be answered.

Both creativity and innovation are predicated on new. New ideas, new thoughts, new value, new technology. But if both of them rely on new then that is not going to be the main differentiator between them. Both creativity and innovation usually rely on outside influence ...
