Introduction

The main purpose of this paper is to make discussion on the case study, and discuss the circumstances that can envisage business opening up coal mines and exploit the resources. The paper also discusses the relevance of marginal concepts for the destruction of the rain forest. It depicts the understanding of marginal concepts that can help in strategy establishment, to converse the destroying natural resources.

Coal is one of the most polluting energy sources, and its indiscriminate use without considerations or environmental safeguards may aggravate environmental degradation. Coal industry is the industry's fuel and energy complex, engaged in mining, enrichment and briquetting of fossil coals. Primitive coal mining was conducted in ancient China and ancient Greece, where it was used as fuel (Abraham, 2000, p. 85). In Western Europe, coal was used much later (in the UK extensively as a fuel - in the 17th century.). The development of the coal industry began as an independent branch of the 2nd half of the 18th century with the transition to the melting of iron in the coal coke.

Most of Britain's coal mines have closed down. There are still large reserves of coal available. Under what circumstances would you envisage businesses opening up coal mines and exploiting these resources?

UK coal industry gives a third of gross domestic product, accounting for one third of all employees. She uses mostly imported raw materials and increasingly oriented to the external market. On the one hand, the UK is characterized by rapid growth of modern industries, using advanced production technology and work organization, the latest equipment and advanced management techniques, on the other - the backlog of old traditional industries. The coal mines in Britain are ending up and people are not going for starting the business of coal mines in Britain (Richter, 1997, p. 277). The UK is abundant in the resources of coal mines reserve. However, it is somehow difficult to obtain these coal resources. Along with such difficulties, there are some possibilities to mine these reserves. The only issue that arises is that whether these coal reserves are economically beneficial. Over the past decade, the coal industry in the UK has been the subject of restructuring, rationalization and modernization. In a first phase of restructuring, the number of pits of the British Coal Corporation has increased from 169 in March 1985 to 75 March 1990, while employment was reduced from 171 000 to 66 000 workers. Britain's coal industry suffers from the threat could undermine the continuation in full.
