Question 1

Sequence of Events

The following the sequence of events:

Andrea left for some practice on her bicycle in preparation for the school sports day. This was a usual activity for her, her distinct bicycle also gave an identification for her. Her choice of location was also usual that is to the Blue pond. The offender must have known this beforehand.

She reached the pond at 4.14pm (confirmed by telephone records) and told her boyfriend that she had just reached the pond and was turning round to go home. He arranged to meet her at Edward Frost's home nearby but she did not arrive and so he got a lift home. He tried to call her on her mobile phone but got no reply

She failed to return by 5.55

At 9.55pm her parents reported her missing to the Police

Overnight searches failed to locate Andrea.

The second day, Andrea's knickers and sandals were found in a wooded area approximately 20 metres from the road. A piece of cloth (believed to be part of her vest) was found attached to a tree and blood belonging to Andrea was discovered 2 metres from this tree

Later her tights, trousers and bicycle were recovered from the woodland stretching towards the coast.

A piece of cloth (again believed to be from her vest) was also found in close proximity to these items

At 12.30pm on the 6th July Andrea's body was found partially clothed in the same woodland adjacent to the Green Pond, lying on her front with her head to one side.

A blood stained duvet was also recovered in the vicinity of the shoreline.

A disorganized crime scene indicates actions that are spontaneous and an assault that is typically frenzied , Andrea's bra had been pushed up above both breasts but remained fastened beneath her T-shirt. The victim is typically selected at random, and the crime scene itself is usually the location of the encounter. Andrea reached the blue pond which was a relatively quiet and hidden area. The offender grabbed her from there and dragged her to the green pond leaving behind a trail of evidence in the form of clothes and blood.

A Disorganized Crime Scene is frequently indicated by the use of materials at hand for the commission of the crime; these assaults can be a blitz or a hurried attack, and they often result in a disarrayed crime scene.

In Andréa case , Her hands were bound behind her back with her mobile telephone earpiece cord and cloth (believed to be from her vest). A hair 'scrunchy' was caught in these bindings.

Sex related Crime Scene

This is clearly a sex related crime. A sex-related crime can be determined from the victim's attire; lack of clothing; exposure of genitalia; body positioning; sexual injury; or evidence of sexual activity on, in, or near the body. In additional, evidence of substitute sexual activity or sadistic fantasy can be evidence of sexual ...
