The case offers the scenario of a training scheme at the 'The John Smith' workplace and issues related to it. It is a small-scale enterprise that specializes in office equipments. The company hires young trainees who are taught to be retail sales workers after getting one year of engineering training in the company. The trainee educational department is directed by the John Smith's daughter, Kathy. Being absent for 6 months on maternity leave, her position was given the head of production, Justin Denby. On her arrival, she observed rising issues among trainees and problems in the department. New trainees have a pessimistic approach towards work and particularly with a Turkish youngster, Moshin Coscun. He was performing extremely well but soon lost his motivation, which posed a negative effect on the other recruiters. Now, Kathy needs to consider the situation dexterously and solve the issues in a manner that benefits everyone. This document will assess the current state of the case and address the reasons that culturally complex business situations require a multilateral approach to attain success. Furthermore, it will offer solutions for Kathy to resolve the matter effectively.
Analysis of the Case
The case clearly shows the gap in communication and differences in cultural values between the production manager and trainees. It can be observed that the training scheme has been doing well in the presence of Kathy and was developed with the passage of time. Moshin a fresh internee, was demonstrating leadership skills in the starting phases of his joining and abruptly this was altered and all the recruiters together with the Turkish boy began to show poor motivation to their work. This situation clearly highlights towards the fact that some sort of communication gap has been occurred between the production head, Justin and trainees. Cultural values are found at the basis of communication issues. Moshin belongs to Turkish background and Justin Denby can be supposed to belong from UK. This shows that some sort of cultural differences occurred between the coach and trainee that posed adverse results on the performance. Cultural theories would help to understand what type of background Justin and Moshin have and help us to formulate what could have occurred among them.
