Identify which of the following are correct descriptors of this study

Observational study is the correct descriptor of this study because all the results obtained in the study (i.e. temperament and popularity of students and mothers are based on personal observations of the researcher). An observational study is referred to most often a patient-based data collection in the health sector, for example through the regular use of drugs in therapy. In observational studies, no experiments and no additional tests will be done. They are usually created as purely explorative studies to generate hypotheses, or - restricted - for assessing the validity of hypotheses. As an observational study an always non-interventional study, it has less significance than a randomized clinical trial.

Observational studies are also known as non-experimental studies or comparative studies, or rather should be a non-randomized comparative study. The study investigators not artificially setting process factors, while the subjects to accept what processing factors or the different levels neither of the same processing neither factors nor by randomized. Growth and development such as the study breastfeeding and artificial feeding of children, medical education | education network collected finishing children whether feeding is not determined by the researchers, their feeding patterns is not determined randomly, but according to the actual situation of the mother to determine. The study further subdivided into descriptive and analytical studies. Its design belongs to the scope of the survey design described later.

Name the independent variables(s) and the dependent variable(s) in the study.

There are several conditions has been used in the analysis, so different dependent and independent variables has been used. Following are the variables used as dependent or independent:

In table 1, Child's popularity is used as dependent variable and Child's temperament has been used as the independent variable.

In table 2, Mother's temperament is used as dependent variable and Child's temperament has been used as the independent variable.

In table 3, Child's popularity is used as dependent variable and Mother's temperament has been used as the independent variable.

In table 4, Temperament of the mothers of popular children is used as dependent variable and Temperament of popular children has been used as the independent variable.

In table 5, Temperament of the mothers of unpopular children is used as dependent variable and Temperament of unpopular children has been used as the independent variable.

Are the variables ordinal or categorical? Briefly explain your answer.

The variables are categorical because they have been splitted into different categories in accordance with the i.e. child's temperament and child's popularity etc. A categorical variable is a variable statistic measured on a nominal scale, which identifies the categories of class society or group. The Genus would be an example of a categorical variable, with two classes or groups (male and female). We can cite other examples, like seasons (summer, autumn, winter and spring), regions and points of the compass. The similarity between objects i and j, described categorical variables, defined as the ratio of number of variables ...
