Question 1a: Outline of significant factors underpinning the Shifts

The new administration and management has launched a new database for inventory and customer log, however there is clash between the old and new systems related to the inventory management and customer relationship management.

In addition, the organization some senior employees who have all the tacit knowledge regarding the cost of the tools, drawings to specifications and a lot more data that creates a real intelligence and challenge for modern tool makers. Furthermore, the organization has employed some students for designing the innovative approach to information management at CTM and online database.

Question 1b: Nature of Data, Relationship, Knowledge and Information

Data of business is sourced from two main segments. The prime field is Company house data that contains the information that an organization is required to maintain for its business purpose and there is a secondary data which is called directory data.

When we analyze the nature of data of CTM, we come to know that the data of CTM is quantitative. It contains the data of inventory and customers. Therefore, we can claim that the organization has company house data. It is the primary data that is sued by the organization to carry out its business operations.

With respect to relationship at CTM, we can claim that the organization has close relationship with its employees. The organization has retained its employees so well that the management relies on experienced employees. However, when we analyze the communication, we come to know that there is a close end communication; the information is not shared by the top management with other employees. This is one reason why the manager is worried about the database management due to retirement of employees.

All the employees are highly skilled that they have developed an impeccable database which efficiently managed the inventory and customer database. In addition, that database also facilitates the successful business operations.

Question 1c: Opportunities of Management information system for CTM

The current Management information system of CTM is used by the management for the attainment of direction for planning, Coordination, communication and decision making. However, there are serious flaws in the information system it provides wrong information regarding the inventory management.
