Case Background

The discussion of the following case is essential because it involves a student of Business named Zoe studying in the Harvard University who had just graduated and managed to land a job in a Law based organization. In the start only, her exhibited extra-ordinary dedication and skills ergo earning herself the title of an invaluable company asset. Her professional life takes another twist when her associate Mr. Parker (who was also a partner) asked her to organize an event that takes place yearly in the recognition of the firm's corporate clients. Zoe's task to form a plan and put together a party hosting almost 200 people. Additionally she is also expected to adhere to the guidelines established by her company that includes takes quotations from at least four catering services out of which one who gives best food for the value shall be selected.

Susan is a new person in the catering market who had started looking after the business because her father is no longer able to. Zoe thinks of adding Susan's name to the list of caters in an effort to help her friend out. When all of the quotes are accumulated, it is observed that none of them are similar to one another however the quote was not giving proper value for money. She asked Susan to revise her rates so that she can get the order.

Case Analysis

It can be said Zoe that breached the code of business ethics by giving her friend a favour. The concept of favours is morally and ethically wrong and result in causing harm to the business. Many theories on business and research which dictate the manner of conducting businesses successfully, all the while maintain the ethical and moral values too.

It dictates the morally right way of performing a task. At a workplace it guides the workers towards doing the right thing as well as taking the right decision there by uniting all the efforts of all individuals into making the right and responsible decisions.
