Introduction

The actions of New Orleans police departments give rise to many questions from the point of view of ethics. Before going ahead, it is pivotal to quickly review the primary responsibilities of police which includes serving the community, safeguarding lives and property, protecting the innocent, keeping the peace, and ensuring the Rights of All to liberty, equality, and justice. There has been history of police discrimination against minorities especially Black. New Orleans incident observed the brutality from the part of police department. Such police brutality is a frequently a result of immaturity. It is caused by fear. Brutality is a byproduct of poor training of police officers, peer support in case of individual police brutality and above all Lax/incompetent supervision of the higher ups in the department. Discussion

Deontological ethics is the position in normative ethics that assess the decency of an act based on the act's obedience to a rules and regulations. It is at times illustrated as "obligation" or "duty" and "rule" -based ethics, since rules "bind you to your duty". Deontology is frequently distinguished from consequentialism. Deontology is also compared to pragmatic ethics. In view of above case, we can employ the endeavors of F. Kamm who in his book "Principle of Permissible Harm" had tried to draw a deontological restraint which go together with our case judgments under discussion. It also relies closely on Kant's Categorical Imperative.
