Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing this letter in response to the article published in a blog that was written by a syndicated writer of your esteemed paper Washington Post. In this article, the writer talks about the achievements and the significance of the work of famous microbiologists Edward Jenner. There is no doubt that the work that he has done is of utmost importance for the field of microbiology and for the public health in general. It is not possible that a field grown and burgeons just because of the presence of a single individual. For the growth and development of field it is indispensible that all the important members such as practitioners, scholars, scientists, advocates and teachers and students work together. This is the only way in which a field is developed. The article by the syndicated writer paid immense emphasis on the Edward Jenner and ignores the effort of the others in the field of microbiology. The writer claims that he was the greatest microbiologist of all time and that he made the greatest contribution to improving public health of any person. In order to prove my point that a field grows because of contribution of all the members, I would like to share the achievements and contribution of two microbiologists. The two microbiologist scientists that I chose are Ferdinand Cohn and Louis Pasteur. The accomplishments and contributions of these two scientists are phenomenal. Ferdinand Cohn is responsible for the classifying the bacteria initially. The contributions of Edward Jenner would have not been possible to be taken place if he does not have any knowledge of bacteria and its classification which he gained with the work of Ferdinand.
