History of Cars Technology Development
Introduction
The reason why I choose this topic “The history of Automobile” after visit Museum of Transport and Technology is because my interest in cars. I have been interest in cars, so I thought its better for me to elaborate this topic. I also thought, it would be good for my research on this particular topic because I plan to major in filed that relates to it.
Discussion
Modern cars as we know it was not invented in the single the single by a single inventor. Automobile history reflects as evolution that took place all around the world. It was estimated that there was around more than 0.1 million patents has now created in today's modern world (Langlois & Robertson, 1989). However, we can point initial inventions and innovations that occurred in this industry.
History
In year 1769, first proper road vehicle was invented by Nicolas Joseph Cugnot (French engineer). To power his vehicle, he used steam engine, and that was initially used by French army. Speed of the steam engine based car was around 2.5mph. Cugnot Vehicle needs to stop at every 10-15 minutes to build up steam power. In 1770, another steam engine powered tricycle was built by Cugnot that carried out around 4 passengers.

Combustion Engine
Cugnot steam engine was used till around 18th century. In 1807, Francois Isaac de Rivaz was designed first combustion engine by using a mixture of oxygen and hydrogen to produce energy. This engine has the capability of explosive combustion fuel to push the piston within a cylinder. There were different types of fuel required for combustion engines, included diesel, petrol or gasoline and kerosene. According to (Friedlaender, 1983) Till 19th century, there were many combustion engine were also developed till 19th century but they couldn't able to get commercial success because there was no fuel could be easily and safely internally combusted during that period.

Two-stroke engine
In 1860, Jean Joseph Etienne Lenoir (french men) was able to successfully built two stroke gas engine that can ran with speed of 3 km per hour (MacDuffie, 1995). He drove his invented vehicle from Paris to Joinville. Within the period of 6 years, Lenoir cars get popularity because it could be frequently seen on the roads and people really like this invention due to its smooth journey.
Gasoline Powered Car
Charles and Frank Duryear, two brothers made small changes in Lenoir design in late 19th century and successfully able to built first gasoline powered car. In 1893, their car was first run on public in Springfield. People think first car on the road was Henry Ford cars, but there was no Fords ...
