Social learning theory

Key Concepts

The key concept of the social learning theory is that people are learning from the societal context and observational learning plays an important part in the development of the concepts.

Key Theorists

Julian Rotter was the first person who came up with this idea that people are more prone to learn from the societal context and Albert Bandura was the person who expanded this idea.

Appropriate Populations for the Theory

The appropriate population for the theory is commonly conceived to be children's as it is their observation and behavior that forms an opinion about them.

Inappropriate Populations for the Theory (explain why?)

People who have developed their senses and they are in their maturity are the one' who might not fit well in this theory.

Therapist's Role

Therapist most of the times are supposed to use the rationale and the logic of behavioral therapy. Therapists are supposed to play an important role and if they have understanding of this theory then they are more equipped about anxiety related disorders.

Client's Role

If one looks at this theory, then it is very clear that this theory focuses on the teaching of the clients and their decision making also depends on it.

Theory Strengths

Some of the many strengths of the theory are that it is very good when it comes to describing the way human development is completed as well as how the serial killers and some other abnormal killers are behaving.

Theory Limitations

The limitation of the theory is that this theory talks does not fit well when one talks about the behavioral changes that are observed in adults and people who are more mature and developed in their personality.
