The decision, which I have made, to pursue my post graduate studies, from Sage Graduate School, in the discipline of Health Services Administration is based on a number of reasons. First of all, the health services industry is now included in the list of top three largest employers in the United States. According to an estimate of the U.S Department of Labor, the field of health services will be included in the list top 10 occupations. This estimate was based on the consistent percentage increases in this field during the past few decades. A wide range of opportunities is available throughout the country for health service administrators in different health care institutions (stats.bls.gov).
This program is formulated in a manner that it prepares health services managers who have in-depth knowledge about the dynamics and diverse needs of this rapidly developing field. The foundations of this program are a mirror image of the faculty's belief that managers of health care field should be skilled enough to play distinct roles. Moreover, this program also prepares students to understand and realize the responsibilities which health managers have in various departments of institutions like ling-term care facility, a health care organization, hospitals or clinics (www.sage.edu).
It also provides students an opportunity to achieve distinct set of expertise. As claimed by the institution “Sage M.S. H.S.A. graduates have accepted a variety of roles in health services organizations, some management and some that combine management and clinical practice.” The program enables students to prepare for both of these career paths.
