Introduction

Sunrise Senior Living is one such organization that deal with senior citizens and provides them services in the areas of assisted living, independent living, skilled nursing facilities at home, memory care and short term stays.

Discussion

The main aim and mission of this organization to provide best possible quality of life to senior citizens, so that they are able to enjoy and participate in normal life activities. They attain their main goal of providing best quality of life by working on the concepts of dignity, independence, self reliance, empowerment and ability to take decisions on their own. I can work voluntary for the well being of senior citizens by actively participating in community service that assist in independent living of aged citizens and guide them as to how they can lead their lives with respect and integrity without any dependence on others (Sunrise Senior Living). The assessment and interviewing of the senior aged citizen by visiting their home is an important step towards providing for quality services as per the needs of the aged citizen. Designing of the program according to the needs is the next important step in the process. Monitoring and maintenance step in order to evaluate whether the services that the senior is getting is in compliance with his needs is very important for maintenance of quality services of the patient.

Current Issue with HACC

Disabilities and diverse cultural issues are the two main problems that are faced by many medical practitioners when dealing with the senior citizens. Senior citizen may belong to different ethnic background which would require the medical practitioner must have the culture competency to deal with and remain sensitive towards his culture and religion (Ossietzky, 2002). The second issue of disability is a common issue which also pertains to Sunrise. Majority of senior citizen might be disabled either physically or psychologically like hearing issues or memory loss. It is important that such citizens must be dealt with extra care and must be encouraged them to remain mobile on their own (Statistics Canada, 2007).

I would want to learn more about different types of cultures and religion to deal with citizen who belong to the minority group or diverse cultural background.
