Brief Summary of the Case

The patient is suffering from major depressive disorder and is also a victim of alcohol use disorder. The patient has attempted suicide a couple of times, but has failed. He has intense suicidal thoughts that lead to the behavior of suicide and that encourage him to end his life. He also has proper access to the lethal means of ending life. He has used carbon monoxide as a means to end his life and has attempted suicide twice in the same manner. While investigating, it was found that the patient gets these thoughts when he is drinking i.e. the suicidal thoughts come to him when he is drinking. This habit is the major motivator in this case as it encourages the patient to attempt suicide. He has reported that he gets these thoughts whenever he is drinking. In addition to this, he has also reported that with the consumption of alcohol, he feels happy. The patient has reported that he has thought of killing himself in a number of ways such as hanging himself to death and for this he has thought of using a rope. He has also thought of using the carbon monoxide way of poisoning. In fact he has used this technique twice, but has not been successful in ending his life. His only reason for living is his brother who lives in Pennsylvania.
