Introduction

This report is being put forward in order to secure an investment into a solar-panel company working in Morocco. This answers the call for cheaper energy in a country where almost 5 million of a 32 million population live below the poverty line. Also, solar panels are still a new enough idea in Morocco, most of the solar-panels in use in the country are small, low-power generating panels used only to heat water boilers. This project will appeal to the Moroccan population, not only because it is a cheaper alternative, but because there is no effort required from the consumer. All processes will we done in the home of the consumer, from buying to installing.

The purpose of this venture is to become the sole provider of solar energy to the general population of Morocco. It must be kept in mind that this is not a charity venture. Due to the average salary of the Moroccan people, a low price in solar panels will give Morocco Solar ltd an advantage over the existing electrical companies. As well as this, Morocco Solar ltd will aim to take full advantage of sun exposure in a country that has exposure to the sun 365 days a year. The plan is to follow the British “Feed-in tariff” system, wherein the solar-panels will be sold to households all over the country and those households will be run from the generated power. All left over electricity will be sold to the government or main electricity company. This strategy works in countries such as the U.K and France who both experience lower levels of exposure to the sun than Morocco. For this reason alone Morocco Solar Ltd has the potential to become a leader in cheaper, cleaner energy in Morocco.

Idea Generation Stage

At the present time the solar panel is dramatically under used in Morocco. Considering the levels of sun the country experiences per year. Solar panels are not, however, completely unknown and unused. They are widely used for heating water boilers. The point of Moroccan Solar Ltd. is to market a solar panel that will power the whole house, not merely heat water. The reason the Moroccan people have not already invested in solar power in this way is because they are not fully aware of the system; it is still a relatively new idea. A deal made in a meeting with the Moroccan Minister of Energy Found Douiri and Abdelkader Aâmara, the Minister of Industry, Trade and New Technologies, explaining to them both the British “Feed in Tariff” system, has put Moroccan Solar Ltd in the sight of the Government.
