Importance

Business networking is fundamental for developing business opportunities and relationships. In modern days, two types of business networking are mainly used, face to face and online. As a part of this assessment, I selected the latter one to develop networking with international business community. Various forums, websites and chat rooms in the digital world helped me to develop connections with international business community within no time.

Tools and Websites Used for Connecting

I made frequent use of the website LinkedIn which is one of the most famous platform for getting information about the business professional spread across the world.

Skype is considered as one of the pioneers for providing international voice over IP service. The service was built by Kazaa designers in 2003, and was initially aimed at providing person to person communication; however, soon the service began to be used for business communication as well (Blackwell, 2009). The service was based on underlying, fast track Kazza network. Using Skype services, people can have voice communications using microphone, video communication using webcam and instant messaging using the messenger; all these services are obviously provided over internet.

Although people have been able to connect to their peers, relatives and business partners via Skype, the service has both pros and cons. Some of the major advantages and disadvantages of this service are discussed below:

The local and international communication has significantly changed with the increasing availability of Skype service. It has influenced the ways for majority of people, in which they conduct communication with their friends, relatives or even with the business professionals.
