Affirmative action is a profound and effective public policy which has been introduced by the legislature of U.S. Originally, this policy was envisioned as a means of going that extra mile for attracting and retaining the employees belonging to the minority groups who were underrepresented and discriminated in the workplace (Shaw, 1988).
