Democracies have, for a very long time grappled with the concerns related to limits, on the very idea of the freedom of beliefs and expressions. It all goes back to the times of the ancient Greek where freedom of the individuals was cherished by many. The constitution farmers of the American constitution were busy guarantying the freedom related to the right of practicing speech, and sharing of ideas and beliefs, for all the citizens of the USA. According to the first amendment of the American constitution, congress was supposed to make no laws pertaining to the speech of freedom that was to be practiced by the American citizens.
Since the adaptation of the American bills of right, the American judiciary made a lot of struggle for defining the speech of expressions and the degree to which this freedom of having the rights of expressing one's thoughts must be protected. A few were also found to have an opinion that there was no dire need for this freedom of speech and expression of opinions. Many also believe that the constitution of the USA goes about allowing room for certain limitations and restrictions, for that matter, under certain specific conditions, ( Baker, 1977). The idea was that this constitution should not be meant for some one who violates the public laws, raise issues just for the sake of expressing his or her views regarding a certain issue. The Supreme Court holds the right of restricting the degree to which an individual can claim to express his feelings or opinions in the public, as long as the individual doesn't cause damage and public disturbance, there are no restrictions in expressing the opinions and views regarding anything.
Freedom of speech or expressions is said to be one of the many political rights of the citizens residing in the USA, according to the country's constitution. It allows an individual to feel free in expressing whatever views he holds regarding any issue at hand. The court also reserves the rights of granting rights to the individuals to practice such a thing. The expression of speech can relate to giving views regarding any ideas or beliefs that an individual feels like. Looking at it in another way, the freedom for having the right to express views and opinions means that the people are given absolute rights without any restrictions or rights in any part of the world that they belong to, speaking in general.
This freedom is mostly recognized as one of the basic legal rights of the humans all over the world, as under the article 19 that relates to the declaration of the human rights and is recognized by the human rights at the international level at ICCPR.
