CIPD HR Profession Map is designed to help HR professional at every stage of their career and also guides in setting global standards for HR. This map shows the present and future requirements in HR field. It is composed of the highest standards of professional competence with the closest alignment to the organizational objectives to attain stable performance. HR professionals use this map worldwide in their organisations for HR departmental and career development. There are three main sections covered in the CIPD's HR profession Map:
Professional areas
Ten professional areas are covered in this map. In each area the Map describes what you need to do? (tasks, duties), what you need to know at four bands of professional competence, as well as outlining the principal behaviours that you need to show when carrying out the tasks and duties. (Moore, 2007, pp.90)
The list of areas starts with “Strategy, insights and solutions” area as it is related to the HR's awareness of the business framework and the overall organisational environment that how each task will be performed.
Second most important area is “Leading and managing the functions”, which helps in understanding the business challenges. As an HR practitioner we need to design functions of HR to fulfill the organisational priorities effectively.
